Iroquois Constitution

Few realize the influence that the American Indian culture had on the creation of our Republic.

Benjamin Franklin, one of the original architects of the United States government, introduced as a model for the country’s framework document the constitution of the Iroquois Nation.

The original 13 colonies were patterned after the 6 Indian nations:

Mohawk: People Possessors of the Flint
Onondaga: People on the Hills
Seneca: Great Hill People
Oneida: Granite People
Cayuga: People at the Mucky Land
Tuscarora: Shirt Wearing People

Although many considered the Indians savages, these nations lived peacefully under a confederacy for hundreds (maybe thousands) of years.

  1. Ron Paul is a staunch conservative, deeply principled, impressively consistent, a foe of big government and it’s entrenched elite beneficiaries in nearly all its forms and a man of ideas rather than of party.
