In 1906, President Theodore Roosevelt signed into law the Food and Drug Act, to prohibited, under penalty of seizure of goods, the interstate transport of food or drugs which had been “adulterated” and verify the quality and quantity of said products.
By the 1930s, muckraking journalists, consumer protection organizations, and federal regulators began mounting a campaign for stronger regulatory authority by publicizing a list of injurious products which had been ruled permissible under the 1906 law. The 1938 Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act was the result of this crusade.
With all agencies that were once created to protect the inalienable rights, freedoms and safety of the individual, the insidious encroachment of big corporate interests and their banking cohorts, infiltrated the ranks of our elected representatives and through lobbying and bribes have inverted the mission from assisting the people to providing monopoly power of the big corporate interests.
The rights, freedoms and safety of the individual are now ignored by government and now subject individuals to the profit motives of the oligarchy of big corporate interests that have controlled the various government agencies for decades.
Our elected have created unconstitutional laws, mandates and edicts that mire the individual to the whims and servitude to the debt slavery of the banksters and big corporate monopolies.
